So I did what most people do. I started buying what influencers were recommending. And honestly I wasted money. I went through multiple tripods, microphones and lights before I finally found what actually works.
What I have learned is this. You do not need more. You just need better choices from the start. This is the exact setup I use now to film my UGC content, my social media videos, and everything I create for brands and my Amazon storefront. It is simple, beginner friendly, and it works.
Why you do not need a complicated setup
There is so much noise around what you need to start. Perfect lighting. Expensive cameras. Full studio setups. The truth is none of that matters if it stops you from actually creating.
What matters is ease. If your setup is frustrating you will avoid it. If it is simple you will use it. That is why every tool I use now solves a specific problem I ran into early on. Nothing is in my setup that does not earn its place.
This is especially true if you are building a UGC business. Brands are not paying for perfection. They are paying for authentic, consistent, clear content from real people. A simple setup that you actually use will always outperform an elaborate setup that intimidates you into not showing up.
The tripod that actually makes filming easy
I cannot tell you how many times I pinched my fingers using those old phone clip tripods. The first one I bought did not have a magnetic attachment. It was flimsy, hard to adjust, and every time I tried to set it up it felt like a battle I was losing before I even started filming.

Looking back I would have saved money and frustration if I had just invested in a good microphone from the beginning.
